hovering like a gargoyle watching my kid sleep.. come share coping stategies for kids that fit

I know lots of kids have febrile convulsions and epilepsy. Mine has complex febrile seizures so I'm looking for advice and perspective to stop me spending my night hovering near her bed like a deranged gargoyle.

After her last fit where she seized in her sleep at 3am and I caught it because I was up feeding the baby I spent the night watching her breathing, then emailed a friend who is an inventor detailed design proposals for a thermal alarm for fit monitoring.. bless him he was very polite when telling me to get a grip.

Dd is 2, and has had 9 complex febrile seizures in the last year. She's had cluster seizures; been hemiplegic (temporary paralysis on one side) post seizure; seized in her sleep; aspirated vomit during a seizure and has only had one episode where she didn't go cyanotic (blue from lack of oxygen). Generally they are about 20 minutes of tonic clonic seizure, then a further 20 or so minutes until she is responsive

Her ecg was good and her eeg inconclusive so it does seem febrile rather than epilepsy, to be fair both I and do had them as kids, apparently I once seized for two hours when I caught pneumonia, and do is epileptic so we shouldn't be as freaked out by this as I am.

Damn you autocorrect dh had complex seizures and is epileptic, I had status epilepticus febrile seizures, as did my dad and my little sister had complex febrile seizures (none of us are epileptic).
