ds been constipated 8 weeks+

Ds has suffers from chronic constipation. Hes tried:
Lactulose
Movicol
Docusate
Sodium picosulphate
2×klean prep ( stuff they use for patients before bowel surgery) and still no hard stool has come away
He had xray month ago after being admitted to hospital and sent home on regular meds.still nothing but overflow plus black blood crystals and green mucus.
Rang his gastric team and they saw him yesterday. He had another xray and its the same as last month. No change. Yet they sent ds home on extra 100mls of water during the day?!
I did say I wasnt happy to take him home and waitfor him to become iimpacted and then get infected. They will see him in 2 weeks and rhe stool will be 10weeks old!
Surel they arent taking him serious?

Background info: hes 2and half and has gastrostomy due to failure to thrive.

Has anyone been in this situation?
Imo its the overflow that is keeping him going as new stool is soft due to medication but the meds aren't touching the hard stools.

Does he eat a lot of brown or white bread? Try cutting it out and seeing what happens, a lot of people are allergic to it (despite what the medics say) (it does the same to me and I'm a different person when I'm not eating it.) You can give him rice krispies and the shops do brilliant non wheat pasta now. Also rye bread from sainsbos and Waitrose.

Any wheat can affect the digestive tract so if he has it 3 times a day it could be that, see 'Wheat Belly' by William Davis M.D.

Nope most of his calories go through his gastrostomy (hes tube fed directly into his stomach and eats very little orally)
The dr was adamant that water will clear it I said the stuff for bowel prep didn't work so how will 100mls work? Hes on 700mls of milk via tube and around 500-700mls of water depending on how he tolerates it.

my son was given liquid parrrafin (cheap rememdy!! OTC in boots...) when impacted. ask if its ok to use down the tube .

They said they had tried everything that would of worked? They didny mention liquid paraffin. Will ask pharmacy when I go down for his other meds in an hour.
Ive read the side effects include pneumonia? !

Check the ingredients of his feed, if its padded out with wheat esp. if they put in wheat bran for const. (it can do opposite) or corn it could still give problems.
If its totally controllable what do the medics think they're doing? Milk, egg and cheese proteins aren't good for const. either.

OP try and get a second medical opinion if you're not happy.

Given your ds's complex medical needs please don't listen to silly people giving you advice about wheat allergies and the like.

In general on here you'll find a lot of people quick to offer medical advice completely out of context and lacking evidence.

No harm in trying anything as long as his docs OK it, but due to the complex condition I'd be looking for a second medical opinion, also it sounds like the current team aren't doing a great job of explaining the reasons for certain things they're doing.

Hes on an elemental feed.

Thepig thank you. He is seeing another gastric dr on Thursday. Would of been today but hes out of country until next week. This gastric doesn't mess around at all. He sorted ds out a year ago as he was almost dying from malnutrition which gp couldn't see.
The only problem with seeing him regularly is its 2 hours away via car or a tram, train and tram journey. Which right now is hard as im 7 months pregnant.
But if it means he geta sorted then it's fine.

While your DS's medical issues sound dreadful so this is probably a silly suggestion, have you tried glycerin suppositories? All the meds tackle it from the top end, the suppositories help at the bottom end.

The stool is further up and he's very clever so that would make him scared to poo. X
