Is there a long-lasting tummy bug around just now?

My DS5 was sick two and a half weeks ago. Mighty vom at school, home all day, fine the next day etc. One week later, he was sick in the middle of the night, fine the next day, sick that night, very sick for 36 hours (couldn't keep water down) then better again. Fast forward 3 days and he was sick in the morning, then seemed fine. Then last night sick at 1.30am, awake again at 6 thinking he'd be sick but had diarrhoea.
Are we unique or does anyone recognise this? We're in Edinburgh so haven't been at school since the first go (because of different holiday dates, rather than draconian anti-vomit rules!).
Someone tell me it's A Thing and it never lasts longer than 2.5 weeks, pleeeeease? If not, how long do we endure? Anything else we could do? Thanks in advance for any words of advice or comfort.

I know Rotavirus behaves a bit like this, or if he has had a mild tummy bug and had milk, dairy etc it can "recurr" because the bug breeds on the dairy product and regenerates ( thats my understanding of it!)

I would avoid dairy and perhaps phone GP for advice they can check for bugs, salmonella etc in a stool sample.

Hope hes better soon

I'm in the north east of England and so many people have had this for over a week.

Thankfully me and ds seemed to have dodged it so far but it sounds awful so hope all is well soon

Has he had a runny nose as well?

DS2 seems to have had something a bit like this, for a couple of weeks he's had on/off runny nappies and occasional vomming, nothing terribly bad but not quite right. All the family have had slightly dodgy stomachs and a runny nose, again it's been on/off and not bad enough to really stop normal routines.

This weekend DS2 has had severe diarrhoea and vommed a lot, not sure if it's the same thing ongoing, or a new bug.

Well literally 2 mins after posting that ds has been sick.

A huge amount. He's very unsettled too.

He has been ill on and off for weeks with chesty cough, temp and yhen conjuctavitis so I've used up all my flexi leave at work.

Ill have to ring in sick tomorrow, just hope it's a one off.
