Should I take DD to see the GP?

DD2 is 6 and has been off school since last Friday. On Friday she had a temperature and just seemed generally under the weather with a very poor appetite. On Saturday she was a lot worse, very lethargic and weak, like she had flu. She did perk up after a bit of calpol though and managed to have a bit of soup. On Sunday she woke up with a whole body rash which is very itchy and looks angry when she's hot. I did the glass test and it disappeared. I thought at first it may be chicken pox, but looking online it didn't look like the chicken pox rash.

Over the past 3 days she has been up and down like a yo-yo. I think the calpol is helping her to feel better, but I thought she'd be over the worst of it by now. But she's not really, she still has the rash, although it's not as bad as it was it's still really itchy. I've been giving her Piriton to try and take away the itchiness and putting Aveeno on, although her skin is extremely dry with the rash. (She suffers from eczema and it's usually quite dry anyway). She still has a bit of a temperature and keeps getting very tired and a bit weak, although she is eating more now.

I don't know whether I should have her checked over or just wait and see how she is in the next few days.

I would take her to see the GP. It's been going on since Friday so maybe she needs some help now.

I would probably ask to speak to a dr on the phone first. They probably will want to see her but its possible theres an out break of exactly the same thing and will be able to advise you over phone without you taking her in and possibly spreading it.

Hope she feels better soon

Thanks. BeaWheesht it does like that rash, and her tongue is white coated. I'm taking her to the GP this morning. I could kick myself for not thinking of Scarlet Fever, dd1 had it when she was 5 and was really ill with it. Poor dd2 being ill for nearly a week and me thinking it's just the flu. Sad
