DS2 is 5 and seems to have chicken pox. He only has 12 spots that aren't particularly itchy. No more since yesterday morning. The only reason I think it is cp is because it is going around our area.

But I suddenly realised that ds1 had cp when I was pg with ds2, so I wondered if maybe he had some immunity to it from then. Is this even a possibility?

I don't think baby gets immune while in womb - maybe if you had gotten ill, but I don't know

but cp can vary from 1 spot on the back (or wherever) to kid looking like bubble wrap. it doesn't have to be itchy.

what you will see is the spot changing and scabbing over - so if you are not sure now you will be in about 4-5 days!

Thanks amazing. It is very frustrating as he really doesn't seem unwell at all, nd I really need to be at work. I can't send DD to the cm either just in case she gets it.

They are born with some immunity but it wears off within the first three months of life.

You can also have it quite mildly.

I've never had it but blood tests revealed I was actually immune so must have been exposed to it at some point! My mum swears blind I never did!

My DD1 was the same during half term - max of about 20 spots and if the rest of her class didn't have CP then I could easily of not noticed, which could explain why some people are immune when they think they have never had it.

DD2 now has it however and is covered in spots, and has them absolutly everywhere (in nostrels, in mouth, in her bottom, all over scalp - you name it!) So 2 extremes in the one house!

Thank you all. DS1 had a very traditional case of cp. Spots all over and itching like crazy. I just hope DD doesn't get it too bad. She is only 16 mths and I know that spots on the nappy area can be awful.
