Eczema in babies/children - can you answer some questions please?

I'm conducting some research for a project I am doing on eczema in babies and children and I wondered if any of you mothers out there who unfortunately have little ones that suffer from this, would be able to help me by answering some questions?

When you saw that your little one might have eczema who did you go to first? Your pharmacist or GP?

What did they recommend you treat it with? An emollient? If so which one did they recommend?

Did you stick with this emollient or try several? What has made you stick with the one you still use?

Thank you very much for your help.

Katie

I spoke to the health visitor first, she gave me double base which made it worse, I then got a prescription for cetraben emollient cream which works so a certain extent. Went back to doctors a few weeks ago and he gave me a very mild steroid cream.

interesting, why are you doing the research and how will the information be used?

we saw GP were prescribed bath oil, and soap substitute aquas cream. and the moisterizing cream that worked was 50/50 soft parrafin mixture and steriod cream.

cant remember the whole list of others, as so many tried. left boots with two carrier bags at a time. some caused reactions on my skin as i put them on him. other siblings prescribed same creams and hived.
have shelf with different prescriptions of for different people when kids younger.

Doctor good at checking that ezcema treatments didnt contain nut oils when reminded after tree nut and peanut allergies confirmed.

will have quick look in bathroom later to look at very old bottles in back of cupboard (havent had time to clear out!)
