Any mouthwash for tonsilitus?

Ds1 is 6 next week.

Has high temp, swollen tonsils and his mouth smells putrid, even after brushing.

He's at the ent clinic next week for glue ear and has recurring problems with his tonsils.

Can you recommend any mouthwash to help with the smell at all?

We use adult mouthwash, but never bought a kids' one. Or are there medicated mouthwashes?

(I know the smell isn't important and we've nailed everything else-just curious really)

Oraldene is the best. It is antibacterial and antifungal.

It sounds as if he needs antibiotics though. Sad.

Have you/are you taking him to GP to get treatment for this acute episode? I would be worried about the high temp.

Thanks 3.

It his first day of being off colour and having a temp today. Tbh the gp is always very reluctant to prescribe anti b's-I have to almost write the prescription myself!! As it recurrent I think (probably a whole new thread)!

Keeping a close eye on his temp as he's convulsed previously and I'll be up through the night keeping him dosed up on calpol and nurofen.

Will take him to the drs or chemist in the morning though if no improvement and either see what the chemist think or take him to the drs.

Thanks for the advice!
