Baby has a nasty cough and cold...

...The whole family have a cold/cough which started 3 or 4 days ago. 4 week old DD has it, and I don't know how to help her. She couldn't sleep lying down last night due to the nasal congestion and coughing so she spent most of the night asleep on me. She has been sick a few times, brought on by the coughing and mucous I think. Is there anything I can do to ease the symptoms? Or do we just have to ride this one out? I have a toddler too, so more nights like last night, when I got no sleep at all, are going to be tough as there is no chance to catch up on sleep in the day.

take to the doctor. Seems daft for a suspected cold but she is still very very new.

Thanks guys. I took her to the GP this morning -he said it's not on her chest, and she's not dehydrated, so we just have to sit it out unless she gets any worse. I thought he'd probably say that, but I feel better now I know she's fundamentally ok.

I found the Calpol Nasal Spray worked for my LO when she caught a cold at 3 weeks.

Hi,
My DD is 14 weeks and 4 days and just getting over a cold. However, I am finding that when she spits up after feeding now, it is very mucusy. I wonder whether this has something to do with the remanants of her cold. I spoke to my mother who suggested glucose to take any remaining cold off her chest. Has anyone ever heard of / done this? What do people suggest?
Thanks.
