Daughter swallowed a plum pit

Just joined this site so am finding my feet on here, my 20 month old daughter has just swallowed a plum pit to my horror she took my plum off the side while I was on the phone, when I noticed she had it the pit was already gone and I can't find it anywhere so I'm sure she has swallowed it, I have searched sites and looking at comments people say she should be on but I need some reassurance x

I think she'll almost certainly be fine, it'll just pass through her. But if you're worried then it might be worth a call to NHS direct to see what their advice is. Generally, so long as things aren't sharp or likely to break into sharp bits, they just go through and get pooped out in a couple of days. I don't think plum pits are big enough to have any trouble going through, and they aren't sharp so I doubt it'll do her any harm.

I phoned my FIL who is a doctor when my DD did this. He said that plum stones are the perfect shape to pass through the gut easily.

My DD (17m) did this last month. I was so worried, and cross at myself! Fortunately she passed it 2 days later and didn't even notice. As long as she is eating and drinking, not in pain and still filling her nappies, I'm sure she'll be fine. Try not to worry, these things happen even when you're careful.

Ds was banned from eating plums (unless I'd removed it first) because he thought it was funny. Confused

Thank you all for the messages I'm still awaiting it to pass, does anyone know how long it can take to go through her system, she is eating and drinking as normal, every time I hear a little cry I panic and think it might be hurting her but all seems ok, thank you all so much for putting my mind at rest, x

DS swallowed a bead a couple of days ago and it came out the other end 24 hours later.

I never even noticed if it had gone through, for all I know it's still there but as she's 20 now I doubt I need to worry.Smile
