I started at 8. I was spotted by DB's orthodontist and had to have 4 baby teeth taken out ASAP. I didn't start the rest of my treatment until 11 or 12, but my adult teeth might have been damaged had I not had the baby ones removed.

DD1 started orthodontic treatment on the advice of her dentist at 8. She's now 13 and we have another couple of years ahead of us...

We're not in the UK, though. I got the impression that about a quarter of her class had some sort of brace when they were 9.

Ds1 is 6 and was seen 3 months ago they have not started any treatment but we go back in March to see what he needs (he's got a crossbite) the orthodontist said ideally they want the top and bottom 4 adult teeth to be through before any treatment starts.
We had an 18mth waiting list.
