Am I going to have to cancel it?
I knew his would happen in second week back at school!

No don't cancel. He has five days to get better. Take him to the GP today if you think he might need antibiotics (although if it is just a cold, he won't).

If he is still ill sunday evening, phone the ward and ask their advice.

Thank you for advice, its still tight in back of throat so nose not running yet,
Would they do it if hes just getting over it?

He has asthma and it usually takes him about 3 weeks to get rid of cough

Ds (also asthmatic) had a slight cold the week before an op. I phoned the ward and was told as long as no fever and no problems with asthma they would do it

Depends on how ill he is with it. Also depends on who is anaesthetising as these decisions a little bit subjective.

It is probably worth phoning the ward but normally, IME, these kids appear for on the day assessment. Sometimes the operation is cancelled but other times we proceed. Always a difficult decision for medical staff.

It all adds an extra layer of uncertainty that I'm sure you didn't need.
