9 month old baby vomits at bedtime

My gorgeous - and otherwise healthy - son is very frequently sick in the evenings. This has been happening for a few months now. About twice a week he will vomit up his milk and supper as I am winding him at bedtime or after I have put him down in his cot. I have become so nervous that I feed him very basic fruit and veg puree for supper at 5pm and then give him half his 7oz bottle at 5.40 and the rest at bedtime at 6.45ish.

He has always been a bit sicky but no reflux etc diagosed and he puts on weight without any problem.

Has anyone else experienced this?

dd used to vomit up her milk quite frequently after we put her to bed. she started doing this as soon as we moved from breast milk to formula at eight months. asked a paediatrician who told us this happened with some children and not to worry (it wasn't every day). when she was nearly two she had some sort of bug and after she got over it she was vomiting every night. read somewhere they can develop temporary lactose intolerance, so we moved her to lactose free milk, she hasn't vomited since. it was also as though a switch was flipped, she became much livelier and also settled much more easily at bed time, so we think she may have always been lactose intolerant.

might be worth checking with your son?

Thanks stripeywoollenhat, never considered it could be an intolerence but you may well be right...great news that it worked for your dd.

I wonder if ds just has a really bad indigestion problem as he seems to have the hiccups all the time and sometimes a swollen belly but I'm not aware that I'm doing anything to cause this?!

skylark - i think dd gets hiccups when she's growing, actually. their bellies can look quite swollen after eating but if it's not just after eating it might be something like an intolerance. hope you can get it sorted out
