If you had to take penicillin while ebf, what (if any) effect did it have on the baby?

I have tonsillitis for the second time in a few months and have been prescribed a lengthy course of antibiotics. I was assured they're unlikely to affect DS who is 5 months and ebf, but since I started taking them he's been terribly unsettled, fretting, grizzling as if with stomach ache and not sleeping at all, (which is not helping me feel any better as I've had three nights without sleep). I'm wondering if I might better off stopping the antibiotics and trying to fight of the tonsilitis on my own, but I don't know if his behaviour is related or coincidence. Any ideas?

Not sure about penicillin, but I had erythromycin whilst ebf DS at 4 months and it gave him mega diahorrea. Had to continue, had nasty dental infection.

Oh, and babies can take penicillin themselves for chest infections and the like and it can give them diahorrea. I would get yourself better and take your ABs.

It can give babies upset tummies - griping pains/wind and diarrhoea Sad
