'Wonky' penis question...

DS, 4, has had a slightly 'wonky' penis since birth. It's noticable when you look at it - points a bit to one side - but midwife & paed that checked him over in hospital said fine and I've always just thought it was within normal range of 'all men a bit different'. No issues with UTIs, ballinitis or anything. He knows he needs to check the direction he's pointing before he wees/

However, I'm now starting to worry a bit. A couple of times recently he has wee'd quite dramatically sideways. I think penis looks quite lumpy along one side as urine comes out (have not made a fuss about taking a really close look yet). And the other day I was proudly shown an erect willy and I was a bit alarmed to see that it almost seemed to have 90 degree bend at the end (!). Again - I didn't make a big thing about getting a good look at it and it probably wasn't fully erect. Wasn't quite sure how to start that conversation!

So I'm going to take him to GP - but any experience/opinions on this? Is it likely to be nothing or should I be prepared for needing some kind of treatment?

To be clear - the paed referred to initially was the one that saw him before normal post-birth discharge - it wasn't a consultation specifically about any problem

It could just be the foreskin adhesion with the glans has become free at one side and not the other. A bit mysterious though. I researched and studied penis problems quite a lot before choosing to circumcise my boys as babies for prophylactic reasons, but I didn't come across this specifically. In adult men there's something called Peyronies disease which is worth reading up at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peyronie's_disease

I doubt it will be that in a youngster though. Good luck with the appointment. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks Suzannesee

Anyone else got any ideas?

Ds has a wonky willy with to much skin down one side and it's to tight on the other. He wees at an angle to.

It was noticed when he was first born and he will be operated on next month at 20 months to straighten it - mainly due to the risk of it getting infected but with an element of 'cosmetic' to it and to ensure no problems when he is older.

If you are worried then i would mention it to your gp

Thanks Sirzy - actually what you describe with too much skin on one side compared to the other is kind of how it looks. Will discuss with GP.

Update in case anyone is following - GP examined DS, said she could clearly see the deviation (reassuring actually as I was a bit worried I was being precious), but that she could not feel any sinister lumps etc. She said likely to be fine, but it was definitely outside her area of expertise so would like to refer us to Pead Urologist to review. She thinks likely that there will be no action, or possibly a wait and see if it is getting worse as DS grows and there could be a cosmetic correction - but will see what urologist says.
