Eczema and staphylococcus infection

Ds1 has eczema, and currently has a staphylococcus infection. Yellow pus spots started on Wednesday and he has been on antibiotics since yesterday, for a week, with an antibiotic cream for the spots.

Two questions - number 1 - the yellow pus spots were on his face and scalp, but he now has spots all over - not pus ones though on his back. Anyone know if it's likely to be the staph infection too, or normal eczema as he has only been having his emollient creams for the last couple of days, so not sure whether to use his normal steroids or the antibiotic cream.

Number 2 - i have kep him off nursery to avoid him passing it on to anyone, but does anyone know how long it can be infectious for? Is it just while the spots have the yellow pus, or untl the antibiotics are finished?

Thanks.

I'd check with a doctor Conkertree rather than relying on other mums. The antibiotics may not be the right ones for your son on this occasion.

Best to check with doctor. Also, not all anti-biotics necessarily work, sometimes you have to switch to different anti-biotics. I had a staph infection due to infected insect bite which became life threatening in a period of two weeks as it turned out that I was given the wrong type of anti-biotics. I did not have fever, but suddenly started hallucinating and had massively swollen lymph node in my neck. So do take it serious and see doctor if there is no marked improvement. Good luck, hope he gets better soon.
