not sure what to do tbh.

Earlier this week my 13 month old dd's mouth dropped on one side during her sleep. She was in the car seat when it happened. She was also dribbling alot. The whole episode lasted about 30/40 mins. By the time we got to the hospital she had completely recovered. They admitted her, took bloods and urine, did an ECG. They all came back normal. There was talk about doing an MRI but they decided against it in the end, as she seemed absolutely fine and it would have involved sedation. A part of me wanted to insist on it as your mouth doesn?t just drop to one side for no reason - does it? But i would hate to put my dd thru such an awful procedure if it wasn?t needed.

By way of background, DD has a history of banging the front of her head, SOMETIMES WHEN ANRY AND SOMETIMES FOR NO APPARENT REASON (blooming caps lock). I put it down to just one of those things that children do. I have discussed it at her 1 year review and the HV said don?t worry about it.

The front of her head does seem to be sensitive as she kind of bliss?s out it i put slight pressure on it with my finger. I?m not sure if this is relevant to the mouth droop?

Not really sure why i am posting tbh. I suppose im not sure if i should go back and insist on MRI.

DD is otherwise a very healthy baby and has reached all her developmental milestones on target etc. Has had no other illness apart from chicken pox at 9 months.

I have no medical knowledge but I am pretty sure I've seen my own dc dribble whilst sleeping in a car seat and that the mouth looks tilted sometimes in a car seat due to the position the head is put in.

Thanks. Did their mouth stay tilted to one side when you took them out of the car seat?

Is she teething? Can explain extra dribble.
Head banging thing lots do it. My ds did it too.
Did she wake up and still have her mouth on one side?
I wonder if she temperally dislocated it. I've got an (inherited) loose jaw and can wake up with it jammed to one side. If I lean the other way for a short time it goes back.

her mouth did stay to one side after she woke. And, she did seem frightened, but that could have been because of me looking at her with concern. It definitely wasn?t a dislocation. She also often seems "bothered" by her head. But, is that normal, maybe a growing pain??

I?m finding it hard to separate instinct from paranoia after having a scare!
