School trousers for ezcema kids

Not sure where is best to post but I'll start here. Ds1 starts school in August. He has quite bad ezcema on his legs. I'm looking for grey or black school trousers that are made of something natural i.e cotton. The cheaper ones from the supermarkets are synthetic and I'm concerned they'll irritate him. Any ideas?

I understand your concern, and i know what you mean about the synthetic fabrics. my child has comfifast leggings to wear which protect her legs from the scratchy carpets etc. They are made from a blend of viscose and nylon. tbh she doesn't wear trousers, and you can get cottony tights for girls... a bit more difficult for boys. john lewis do 100 percent cotton polo shirts... perhaps they have trousers with cotton in?

If your GP will prescribe them, try the dermasilk garments. DS wears his under his clothes, and it means I can buy whatever trousers we like.

You can buy them yourself, if GP won't prescribe them (ours refused).

This may be of interest - hi tech prods that actually heal the skin (see website). Just about to be sold commercially but they have been available on the Nhs for 9 months now (ie on the gps database).

I think the dermasilk and the dreamskin garments seem to very similar? We pay for the dermasilk ones, and they have been so helpful with DS eczema.

thank you so much for posting that link. I will make an appointment tomorrow to go and ask my gp. the comfifast ones are viscose, and i think she overheats in them. i hadn't thought the gp would prescribe the silk ones, but if those dreamskin ones are on the list, it's definitely worth a try

My daughter has been wearing the Dreamskin pyjamas for about 6 months now and and they have really helped. They are very cool to sleep in and have definately reduced the number of flare ups and itching.
