WWYD DS tiredness

My DS has always slept brilliantly. Slept through at 3 months napped for 2 hours morning and afternoon. Then around a yr changed to long late morning nap. Then dropped that nap altogether when he was about 2.5yr. He is now almost 4 and recently spends all day complaining about being tired. He looks exhausted with huge bags under his eyes. He sleeps for about 12 hrs every night and occasionally bobs off in the car for a quick 20 mins during the day.

DH thinks we should take him to the Drs and get him checked over but am just unsure whether I will get laughed out of there.

Bit of GP back story, took 4 months before GP would recognise my other DS had an asthma problem with a recurring cough. Told me when I went with mastitis with a 6mth old that BF had no nutritional value beyond 6mth also that BF caused me to have sore weak wrists as BF had depleted my calcium store. ALso the last visit I had I spoke to him about a weird recurring same time every month itchy vagina, he told me I must have chlamydia.

SO as you can see I dont have much faith in the GPs at my surgery.

What would you do take him for a check up and risk being told to go away or just wait a little while see if he perks up in another few weeks. This constant tiredness has been going on for about a month now.

I would change my surgery, and take him to see a new doctor.

totally agree. gp sounds dreadful so take him to another surgery and get him checked out and/or referred to bloodtests, whatever. how long has he been this tired for? did you try re-introducing the nap again- some kids still need it for longer than others. my DD is four and is only just about coping without it, and still naps during the day at least three times a week, as well as getting 11 hours at night. all that said, i would check him over as well.
