1 1/2 year old DD has a lazy eye

Hi

New here. My beautiful little girl has a lazy eye, not so noticeable in 'real life' but shows badly in photos. Does anyone know if I should go to the GP (generally useless usually and no guarantee of continuity of care), optician (we're with Specsavers, but can easily move if anyone has got a better suggestion), Health Visitor, or try and get straight to some sort of specialist!!??

Ds was referred to the opthamologists at the local childrens hospital by the gp. The hv said they could but it was quicker via gp

He was 12 weeks. Apparently they normally only see them when they are older but because I have a lazy eye to they did it younger. He is 16 months now and at the moment they are just monitoring it every 3 months

Acutally, just been looking into this more and what she has is a droopy eyelid (thought it was called a lazy eye, not so sure now. x

a lazy eye is an eye that has poorer eyesight than it should so you wouldnt be able to see it in a photo. Some people also (wrongly!) refer to a squint as a lazy eye. Dont have experience of a droopy eyelid.

You will need to have your daughter reviewed by the Hospital Eye Service.

Your G.P. will be the one to arrange this.

Get an appt., take the photos and they;ll sort out a referral.

Once there she will have some measures & investigations done as well as some checks on her vision and other eye muscles.

But you need to go to your G.P. first.
