My friends 3 year old little boy is in excruciating pain for hours almost every day for just under 2 years(around his groin and the bottom of his belly). The pain is mainly related to him needing the toilet and he feels better after he goes but doctors cannot explain what is making him sore, they have just admitted that they have misdiagnosed him (again) and can't explain the problem, he was put on Movicol for almost a year and has now been taken off that and put on a new medicine for pain relief, he has been misdiagnosed with Balanitis and he is not constipated either, has anyone experienced a similar situation and would be able to give some advice, she is really stuck and doesn't know where to turn to now?

Have they examined him for an inguinal hernia? This can sometimes only be apparent when straining, so is easy to miss.Ask a doctor to examine for this. It's very treatable, with simple surgery. Hth

No he's not been examined for that, I'll let her know to ask the doctor to give him a check thanks! She was also considering asking the doctors to give him an ultrasound do you think that could be of any help?

Food intolerance causing cramping? A friend's dd has had the same.

Well it won't do any harm. The most important thing is to get him properly examined by a paediatrician. A little boy should not be in pain, so keep pushing until they get to the bottom of it.

My 3yr old grandson has severe milk allergy and has been crying when being changed as it hurts when dd puts cream on him. (trying to toilet train without success at the minute). GP thought urine infection but seems not. Another visit to different GP said will send for ultrasound as not right anything should hurt at that age. Press for ultrasound if necessary just to be sure.
