I would really appreciate your views. Sorry this is a long one
My DS (2 1/2) has had a cold. yesterday he vomitted in the night then seemed ok in the morning. In the afternoon his temperature soared, he went and lay down on the sofa and went to sleep. Even when he woke, he just lay there doing nothing but staring into space. He responded when I asked him questions and wasn't confused but this behaviour is totally out of character. He is usually charging around and even when he is ill he will normally play quietly. He never sits still!
I spoke to NHS direct who suggested nurofen in addition to the calpol. I also called the oncall GP because I wasn't entirely happy. They suggested that they wouldn't act until he'd been ill with a temperature for at least 3 days. He slept through the night and appeared to be on the mend with just a dose of calpol this morning but then at lunch time he has gone down hill again.
When I changed his nappy he became quite tearful and was complaining of pain in his groin.
I am just at a loss as to where to go now. Do I go to the GP (I'm not really comfortable taking him out at the moment as he seems so unwell) or do I wait the 3 days (which seems a lot for a little 2 year old who is obviously unwell)?
Just to give an overview of his symptoms
temp 38C+ (may have been higher initially but only bought a thermometer last night)
cold symptoms inc a productive cough
vomitting x1
diarrhea x 2
lethargic
sleepy
reduced appetite and not drinking much despite having drinks constantly available.
Any views would be very welcome as I feel like a totally neurotic Mum. Please tell me if you think I am - I can take it!
Thanks for any advice.
