looking for some inspiration on how to help our DD sleep better with a horrid cold. Totally stuffed up. Had us up half a million times last night God love her!! Have a humidifier going full blast in her room and have been trying calpol saline nasal spray. She's pretty good during the day but last night was horrendous!! I know it's only a cold but it's a nightmare!!

Poor you. For my DS I give a dose of calpol before bed if he's got a bad cold. I put a damp towel on his radiator, but if you've got a humidifier you've got that covered!
We used a plug-in menthol calpol thing as well, no idea if it makes a difference though.

Also try raising the head end of the cot slightly to help with nasal drainage. A big book under the legs should suffice.

Other than that, you have to just wait till it goes I'm afraid. If you are bf, offer lots of feeds. Otherwise lots of cuddles. It's horrible for them and you but hopefully will be over in a few days.

Thanks FluteyBoots! Just always afraid we are missing something! Never thought of the head raising but she's in bed now and I really don't think I'll disturb her but will keep it in mind for tomorrow if she's still poorly! The humidifier was a baby present from a cousin who has little ones and found it really helpful. It got taken out at about 3am when we remembered about it adn tried to very quietly and sleepily figure out how it worked!! Keeping my fingers crossed for tonight!!!!

Olbas oil works wonder IME. And they do a children's one, fortunately, because the regular one hacks at my throat sometimes!

And I second the raising the end of the cot up. You wouldn't believe the difference it can make.

Thankyou thankyou!!! Wondered about the likes of that too but couldn't get any today! Have just looked out a couple of ratehr big books so that if we are up in middle of night with her we can do a bit of furniture removals and prop up the cot!! Fingers crossed we wont need to! This website really is fab! Thanks again!!
