please reassure me/give advice.

dd has been ill since friday pm when she was sent home from nursery for vomiting. since then she has had 3 days of vomiting and 5 days of diarrhea. the first 3 days she was scarily quiet but she is persnality wise much more normal today and has played her toys while i lie on the sofa groaning - i have it too!

she has not eaten a meal since friday lunch time and i am quite worried. she is drinking, milk and dioralyte and until this pm there were wet nappies. but she has prbably eaten 10 grapes, a mouthful of banana and half a cracker since friday.

i had to take a poo sample to docs but receptionist says up to a week for results.

please talk to me i am a bit scared

Bumping this for you.

It's surely a good sign that she's more herself today. Are you concerned that the nappies are drying up? Hydration is your mine concern; if you think she's not getting enough to drink (is the inside of her mouth moist?) perhaps phone the out of hours doctor for advice.

Hope you both get better soon.

She sounds like she's on the mend. Don't worry about the food so much for a few days, as long as she's drinking well, and it sounds like she is. Of course, usual muppet disclaimer applies - contact out of hours if worried.

See how she is in the morning. My DD2 had something similar at about 18 months. The NHS Direct nurse recommended natural yogurt (she was eating virtually nothing, though drinking plenty of water) and she took to it as if it was just what she needed, in spite of never having deigned to touch it before.

2-3 days of vomiting and 5-7 days of diarrhoea are the norm, providing they are decreasing in frequency. Youre doing all the right things hence chirpy DD!
