DD is on day 13 of 14 for antibiotics for sinisitus. She has been complaining all day of feeling dizzy. DH and I have flu and assumed it was to do with that but now I am worried.

On top of antibiotics?

<I am clueless>

IAmReallyFabNow Wed 29-Dec-10 19:49:55

sorry, thanks for answering.

IAmReallyFabNow Wed 29-Dec-10 19:51:55

She is saying now she feels sick and her head really hurts.

IAmReallyFabNow Wed 29-Dec-10 19:53:15

she says her eyes are blurry when she thinks about things too much.

SlightlyTubbyHali Wed 29-Dec-10 19:53:57

Sounds like she has flu.
Dizziness, headache, nausea, classic symptoms of flu.
Or possibly she has some goo in her ears that are knocking her off balance (that could account for the dizziness and nausea).

IAmReallyFabNow Wed 29-Dec-10 19:54:45

What do I do?

knobbingnowt Wed 29-Dec-10 19:56:15

Does she have a fever? could it be an inner ear disturbance?

Ring OOH GP if your concerned.

Could be the wrong antibiotics for the type of infection?

I suffer from Labyrinthitis and can be often dizzy/nauseas

SlightlyTubbyHali Wed 29-Dec-10 19:58:49

If she was mine I'd probably put her to bed with some calpol (keeping an eye on her temp) and tell her not to think about things if it makes her eyes blurry.

Chances are some sleep and lots of liquids will help.

Or is there some reason why you are particularly worried about this?

IAmReallyFabNow Wed 29-Dec-10 19:58:51

she felt cool, temp was 37.

the antibiotics were given by the hospital.

knobbingnowt Wed 29-Dec-10 20:05:46

How old is she?

If your worried try NHS direct, what is it that worries you?

Make sure shes drinking lots.

IAmReallyFabNow Wed 29-Dec-10 20:07:45

Have given calpol and put her to bed. She is 7.

I am worried as I am not a good mum and think I might miss something serious or important. I am also not well myself.

knobbingnowt Wed 29-Dec-10 20:10:03

Sounds like our doing fine, its always hard when your ill yourself, sounds likely to be flu.

Keep an eye on her overnight, if she gets worse ring GP, see how she is in the morning and if needed see GP then.

Honestly it sounds like your doing all you can.

I haven't got any olbas oil. I might have karvol, will that work?

SlightlyTubbyHali Wed 29-Dec-10 20:13:13

Really you sound like you are doing fine - don't be hard on yourself.

The things you've listed sound like flu or dodgy ears (and so I'd probably wait until morning and see how she is), but as you are worried why don't you call NHS Direct? I have found them very helpful when it comes to my children.

It'll be ok.

No, don't give Medised as you've already given Calpol (too much paracetomol).

Carvol a good idea.

IAmReallyFabNow Wed 29-Dec-10 20:19:54

just rubbed karvol on her chest. she said it smelled horrible.

Can you get olbas oil in Boots and is it a natural product rather than medication?
