Ds (6) has a cough and sore throat. Nurse told me today to give him brufen for the throat but i completely forgot to ask if it's ok to give Kids Benylin for dry coughs (pholcodine) at the same time. Any one know?

afaik, you are fine to give both, provided he isn't asthmatic. It is worth you ringing Tesco or a similarly late opening pharmacy to double check.

If ds is asthmatic then he shouldn't be taking either unless instructed by a GP.

No, he's not asthmatic. I didn't know you could ring Tesco pharmacy to ask this kind of thing. Interesting!

Thanks.

Any pharmacy will help you. Just ask to speak to the pharmacist. Smile

I've given both dds pholcodine on top of analgesics for fever - they were fine. Not the same sort of drug.
