Can anyone help me think of a gift to buy for a seriously ill child in hospital?

I have a friend whose little boy (just turned 3) is very seriously ill in hospital.

He is in intensive care and is waiting for a heart transplant.

Desperately want to send a gift, but I really do not want to send up something which is totally unsuitable for his condition.

He is awake and reasonably alert, but his mobility is extrememly limited.

Is there anyone who has any experience of dealing with this kind of illness who can point me in the right direction, and help me to send something which will actually be of some use to him (or to his mum)?

Best wishes to you and to your friend's family Sad

How about a hand puppet (for an adult to wear and entertain him with). We gave one to a little friend of DS1's when he was recovering from an operation, and his parents said he really liked it.

How about a book on how the body works. At 3 they want to understand why they are ill (in simple terms) and it might help him to understand if he can see pictures etc.
