Hi
8mth old yesterday had a couple of figures my my daughters playhouse (given to her as a hand me down from a friend at school). Not sure what they are but they say Geoffrey Inc 2009 on the base. I tried to google and find out if the paint on them is toxic but cant find it.

Yesterday whilst getting ready I let her hold them with dummy in her mouth as they are quite sturdy and no little bits that could come loose plus she never spits her dummy out... but obviously she did and so lesson learnt!

I noticed her sucking one and immediately took it away but she had both figures in her hand and it looked like she had sucked some paint off, i scraped it with my nail and it came away easy. i am not sure if there was already paint missing and she has no teeth but i guess strong gums could suck some off. i rinsed her mouth mouth out and she seemed fine.

This morning she had a temp 39.2 and has never had one, but she has been grizzly lately so not sure if its just teething... i'm just waiting for gp to call me back. i'm such a fool letting her hold them, you would think i would know better with my third child.

surely toys made in 1999 would not have toxic paint? but they would not be made for 8mth olds to suck , i hope its ok...

just googled again and found mattel had toxic paint on their toys - made in china too like these. please tell me i'm over reacting, i dont even know how much she sucked off as they were old toys. how much would you need to digest to get poisoned?

dunno, but she'd likely throw up if she had been poisoned, wouldn't she?

I should imagine she'd have to have quite a lot of it to be in any danger.

It's the lead in it isn't it that's supposed to be dangerous? I used to chew lead pencils at school (frequently - drove my mum and teachers mad) - I've turned out just fine and never managed to poison myself Smile

I also apparently used to gnaw on the (lead painted) cot when I was a baby

thank you... i'm just so angry at myself and its a lesson learnt. she is quite a clingy baby and anything that keeps her occuopied for a few mins...

i'm normally quite strict with what toys she plays with and makwe my older girls keep their toys away from her but i actually gave them tyo her to hold. i did not expect the paint to come off.

i think you sound a wee bit anxious and down on yourself, tbh, it's only a bit of paint... try not to fret so. Smile
