My child is nearly 3 years old. About 1 month ago she had a scratch, on her chin , which she picked and made into a sore. She has cotinually picked it. Two weeks ago, I took her to the GP, who diagnosed possible impetigo in the sore, and prescibed some cream (with a low dose of steroid in). She has continued to pick the sore. I told to not pick the sore, in case the cream got on her fingers, and would make her sick if put in her mouth. I also told her that if she continues to pick I will have to take her back to the doctors.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get a child to stop picking ?

ds used to do this horrendously. I put loads of sudocrem on his sore/scratch/spot and it moisturised it so he didn't want to pick at it because it was soft rather than hard.

Not sure if you're supposed to do that, but it worked for us
