My daughter has some colouration on her neck

It is brown, rather than red like a rash and it has been there for a few days. She isn't bothered by it. We are going on holiday and want to make sure it isn't anything I need to see a doctor about. Any ideas? TIA.

If you are worried go to your gp, regardless of what you are told here.

I will when they are open but until then.

I had a brown patch on my neck and it was melasma - discolouration caused I think by hormonal changes. It is more common with olive skin and sun can make it worse. Could it be that? Mine looked a bit like a coffee stain.

She is only 7 so not sure she has hormonal changes yet? I am also how the sun can catch heron her neck under her chin. It is't like she lies on the ground looking up.

I couldn't get through to the doctor so have you any suggestions, voleinahole, for what I need to do?

Melasma, if that is what it is, is only a cosmetic issue and my dermatologist said I could take some cream to help clear it up or just leave it. I used the cream and it has gone but it wasn't a big deal.

Personally I would try to get it seen because I only tend to get sick at the weekend/on holiday/on bank holidays when it is harder to do something about it! I would impress on the GP's receptionist that you are concerned and see if they can squeeze you in.
