Hi everyone,

My LO is about to turn 1 and I am still breastfeeding twice a day. She's had eczema from 3 months old and I am currently keeping her on non-dairy diet to see if that helps the eczema. Her skin has been getting better and I would like to carry the non-dairy diet on. But what I am confused about is what do I give her instead of cow's milk when she turns 1? I am planning to stop breastfeeding or at least to drop it to night time feed only and am worried this won't be enough for her. What other "milk" type drinks can i offer her? there is so much controversy around rice and soya milk. it would be great to see what you think/do with your LOs.

Thanks

My ds has oat milk and has never had a problem with it. He reacted to Soya was advised to stop rice milk due to arsenic scare. As with any non dairy drink it may be worth just double checking whether your dd would need a calcium supplement as well

you may be able to get a formula (hypoallergenic one) on prescription but they do taste rather vile.

If you do go this route it might be worth expressing and mixing BM with the formula and reducing it gradually iyswim.

We use oatmilk too alongside lots of bm for ds2. He's still a milk monster at 16 months Wouldn't bother with formula after 1 if you made it this far without it!
