I would like to buy my neices and nephews books for Christmas, but have no idea what to get!
(21 Posts)One neice is 11, another is seven
One newphew is 10, another is 8, another is 7 and another is 3
I have no clue what books to get.
I recently gave one of the nephews some of the Roald Dahl books (magic finger, fantastic mr fox etc) so they are out.
Any suggestions?
11 books by Eva Ibbotson or Anne of Green Gables
7 (girls) Mr Gum by Andy Stanton/ Clarice Bean by Lauren Child/
10 books by Anthony Horowitz/ geraldine McCaughrean
8 and 7 ; Mr Gum/ Dr Who
3 Winnie the Pooh/ Winnie the Witch/ Jill Murphy collection
All available free delivery from red house books
Have you got a local independant bookshop? They should be able to give you some guidance on bestsellers, new authors for those ages.
Thanks
10 yr old get Percy Jackson series (nephew mad on them)
7 yr old get Jack Stalwart adventures (another nephew loves them)
3 yr old ds loves anything with Shirley Hughes' Alfie in it, or the Little Red Train by Bendict Blathwayt
7 yr old girls-worst witch series by Jill Murphy, Blue Peter/Brownie annual
10/11 yr olds ones maybe Guiness Book of Records
7yr old boy Beast Quest series
3yr old Shirley Hughes Alfie series
How about the Bartimaeus triolgy for the 10 year old, mine loved them.

11 year old niece - well dd2 is 12 and is reading the Twilight series and prior to that read the Angus, Thongs series but I think there is quite a difference of maturity between 11 and 12 so neither may be any good. Last year she enjoyed all the Mates, Dates series, as well as The Edge Chronicles MuddleEarth, Black Beauty, Balet Shoes, Charlotte Sometimes etc.
7 year old niece - Pippi Longstocking or one of the 'older' Lauren Childs (have forgotten what they are called but they are fabbo) - or Judy Moody.
10 year old nephew - Alex Rider or Holes.
Yes to Alfie and Annie Rose btw!
And apologies for typos - am writing through a migraine.
My 7yo dd loves Lauren Child's Clarice Bean books. Is that what you were thinking if Janeite?
10-yr-old and 8-yr-oldss and 7-yr olds - Horeendou haddock hiccuo books.
7/8 yr-olds mr Gum/Horrid henry
3-yr-olds - Little red trhain, Pumpkin soup (Sue Cooper), Mog
11-yr-old neice - Jacqueline Wilson, or Stepahnie myers (Twilight)
sorry, keyboard playing up, I am not illiterate!
The little chunky wordy ones, rather than the picture books? About Ruby Redford? Those ones? They are wonderful.
Yes, it's Clarice Bean, agree they are fab!
ooh just thought 11 yr old niece - get Star Girl, it is such a lovely book. Totally agree on Holes too - brilliant book. Skellig is a great book too for either 10 or 11 yr olds, don't think it's a girl or boy book, but is excellent
Yes to both Star Girl and Skellig - lovely.
Heaven Eyes, also by Almond, is glorious too.
Get them the new Doctor Who novel, "Autonomy". I hear that's brilliant.
