What age for reading Horrid Henry books with a little help?

My DS1 was reading when he was 5, and probably managed to read and understand the humour of the Horrid Henry books by the time he was 7. He still likes to go back to them now! If you're reading along with them, you could probably start a bit younger and miss out any bits you feel might go over their head!

Thanks. Dd enjoys reading them and needs help occasionally with some of the longer words. They dont put them on a reading scheme till next year so it's really hard to judge where she is at.

I wouldn't give them these until they are old enough to read them without help as they are utterly tedious

They have three Horrid Henry Early readers:

Horrid Henry goes on Holiday
Don't be Horrid Horrid Henry
Horrid Henry Birthday party.

Suspect the titles might not be completely accurate but they give the complete gist. They are more like the reading scheme books in that they have bright illustrations and not too many words or sentances per page, but they do use advantage language in that some of the words werent really suitable for the level they were aiming at (IMO). But well worth a go, ds 4 likes to shre read them. (its a 40-60 split at mo hoping it will boost confidence and get him reading more).
