I want to give pre-school a couple of books when DD leaves - suggestions welcome

When DD leaves her pre-school next week it will end our association with it and I'd like to get the school a book as a token gift (presents for teachers already sorted and it's a privately run place so not in need of expensive gifts).

Any suggestions would be welcome.

How about the latest one from Julia Donaldson (I'm presuming they will have most of the other ones - Gruffalo etc). The latest one is Tiddler and it is only out in hardback so makes a nice gift. My boys love it - you can see it here
There are also the lovely ones by Jill Murphy - you can get four stories in one book - see here
How about the Bear ones by Jex Alborough - there are 3 in the series -It's the Bear, Where's My Teddy? and My Friend Bear see here
I could go on and on but hopefully these might be useful!

Lima's Red Hot Chilli is a popular story where I work. Let me have a think and get the authors names and I'll post again

Hi Chippy

How about:

"Pumpkin Soup" - Helen Cooper. Lovely pictures, and a nice story about friends and the things that make us happy.

Any of the Charlie and Lola books by Lauren Child - some more reluctant readers might be "turned on" by seeing books that feature characters they have seen on the TV

Baby Brains - Simon James. Amusing story, and one that should appeal to boys and girls of pre-school age equally.

Beegu - Alexis Deacon. A sweet story about a little alien who lands on earth and feels lonely. Eventually, she wanders into a school playground where she makes some new friends.

Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs - Ian Whybrow.

Mister Magnolia - Quentin Blake. A series of poems that are likely to appeal to really young children. I really like Blake's illustrations as well!

Mr Pusskins - Sam Lloyd.

Happy hunting!

Wombat Goes Walkabout is fantastic but it says aimed at 4-8yo so maybe a bit too old.

Click Clack Moo is a big hit here, and not so well known, so they may not have it. First book that DS knew the words to

Any of the Hairy McClary books are fab

Forgot to add, the Wriggle and Roar can be found at a reasonable price at 'the Works' - if you have one nearby it's worth a look
