Rhyming and poetry books for 5yo

DS(5) still likes us singing nursery rhymes after his bedtime stories but I feel we need to diversify and move on gradually.

His teacher suggested poetry or rhyming books, and to change the words around when singing the nursery rhymes.

Can anyone recommend any poetry or rhyming books that are suitable for a 5yo (but not Julia Donaldson)?

Dr Suess would be a great place to start. Green eggs and ham is a particular favourite in our house. Oh the places you'll go is also lovely

The Hairy McClary and Slinky Malinky books are good and they make me chuckle.

Have you read any of the oi books (e.g. oi frog). The rhyming in them is very silly and enjoyable.

Commotion in the ocean/rumble in the jungle etc by Giles andreae are good too.

Shel Silverstein's books of poetry are wonderful for that age - very funny, with lovely drawings. Where The Sidewalk Ends is maybe my favourite. (For some reason he doesn't seem to be much known in the UK, but he's an American childhood classic. Also, random trivia fact, he wrote A Boy Named Sue.)
