My almost 6yo boy is obsessed with the same few books so I really want to get him a decent new selection for Christmas.

Does anyone have recommendations that their similar ages child enjoys? Books that we can read to him and ones he can read himself as he progresses.

(When will be be old enough for Harry Potter! I want to read these to him...)

The first couple of Harry potter should be fine. My six year old dt enjoyed them. The later ones might be a bit too scary though. As mentioned above the 'How to train your dragon' series are great. Roald Dahl. Dick King Smith.
Following for suggestions of books for them to read - mine are just moving onto less basic books.
