The Djinn series by Linda Davis always reminded me of Percy Jackson. Think Fire Djinn was the first, followed by Sea Djinn.

Second John Flanagan, DS11 (who loved Rick Riordan) has The Ranger's Apprentice as his all time favourite series, followed by Brotherband Chronicles (also John Flanagan). Just wondering what is next after those...

How about: Skullduggery Pleasant; or Lockwood and Co; or Royal Instiutue of Magic?
They're all series, and pretty well written. Good plots, and characters - witty too (esp Skullduggery). Not mythology based, but magic and mystery.

Hi me and my niece have both just finished 'The Secret in the Sky' by Willow Lockett. Its about a 13-year-old girl called Ruby Merrygold, who lives with her wicked Aunt Mabel and finds a magical telescope in her garden. When she looks through it she discovers the secret in the sky, where all the Superfolk live that look after everyone on earth. There's Walter Wishbone, the wish granter, Malbert Moonberg, the dream maker and all the fairy-tale characters have all grown up and achieved their dreams, including Peter Pan who now owns his own theme park up there. Ruby is delighted when she is invited up to it to make her dreams come true, by Harrison Hawk. BUT there's just one person stopping her from getting there, her wicked Aunt Mabel.
Will she make it up to the most magical and best kept secret in the world? and if she does, a creepy forest awaits those who enter the sky with fear, does Ruby have fears?
If this sounds like something you're son will enjoy, it is available on Amazon and this is the first in a series which I was delighted to find out. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm 27! Hehe. Hope you find some great books for her either way and have a wonderful summer!

The first 5 Percy are followed by the Roman Gods, then Egyptians and I believe, Norse ones are next.

I started reading the first series to my boys...it seems I will never be free.
