Can anyone recommend a book for a little girl that i could give as a present. She is 3.
10 years ago, my sons were that age and they loved:
The Gruffalo
Smiley Shark
We're Going on a Bear Hunt
Room on the Broom
etc

I think they are all fairly unisex, but maybe there are others now that are better, and maybe there are ones that would appeal mainly to girls that I never noticed??

'There's a bear on my chair' by Ross Collins is fab! 'Oi Frog' and its sequel 'Oi Dog' by Kes Gray are also great but quite popular so I'd get a gift receipt with them in case you have to exchange.

How about the newest Fairytale Hairdresser book? They are by Abie Longstaff.

Paper Dolls is a gorgeous book for a little girl
Mine also loved Topsy and Tim even if they have all been rewritten to be politically correct

How about Hairy Mclary and friends? By Lynley Dodd. My girls loved them and they are brilliant to read out loud.

Aliens love underpants is another firm favourite in our house.

And for a little girl, we love The Worst Princess, which is about a princess who finds the prince who saved her very boring and ends up running away with the dragon.

Paper Dolls and You Choose get my vote too.
The High Street by Alice Melvin is good too.
Also one called Wonderful World which is a book of the Louis Armstrong Lyrics and comes with a CD of the song. That's a nice gift.

Anything by Julia Donaldson is a hit in our house and right now our 3 year old's favourite book is 'Zoe Zebra Loses Her Z' which we found on Amazon.

At this age the rhyming story books are they ones they love.

The Day The Crayons Quit, and its sequel, the name of which eludes me right now.

A book that I would absolutely recommend as one to read aloud to your kiddos or to let them try on their own is Basil Hazel Forest. It is full of brilliant illustrations to keep them engaged as well as a great story of team work. I highly recommend it. I found it on Amazon.

You Choose got absolutely worn to pieces here, it was so loved. They also loved Oi Frog.

How about Dogger, Sally's Secret, or Rhymes for Annie Rose, all Shirley Hughes with beautiful pictures.

I wonder what you would think of "Dream-O-Doodle". It's a jolly bed-time story with a variety of characters and scenarios. It will keep your little one entertained. It is also a rhyming story- catchy for children and easy to remember.

All children should have a copy of You Choose by Nick Sharrat.
