My DDs enjoy to do quiz after dinner - but we have started to struggle with coming up with topics that they know enough about (DD1 is 7, DD2 is 3 - the quizzes are really for DD1, DD2 just clowns around).

The idea is that they earn points for TV time [their idea, why not]

We have been looking for a good general knowledge book, that has pictures / diagrams, timelines, is fun, and covers a boad range of topics, from science, to history, to philosophy. I don't want to speak about bloody vikings or dinosaurs anymore

Any recommendation?

Not a single book, but what about the Horrible History / Horrible Science / Murderous Maths books - you can generally pick them up cheap second hand and they're great fun.
