Desperate times - a friend only has a pirate costume for tomorrow and we are trying to come up with a courageous pirate to qualify for world book day. Thanks so much.

The Pirates Next Door?

Jack sparrow is quite a specific look so was going to give him a wide berth.

Were there any brave pirates in treasure island or were they all villains ( I am immediately discounting long john silver and jim hawkins)?

worriedsick100 Wed 05-Mar-14 14:15:50

without knowing the stories of these books were any of them brave?

TeamHank Wed 05-Mar-14 14:16:09

The pirates in Pirates Next Door are very cool.

Do they need to have been brave? smile

How old is the child?
Dread Pirate Roberts is from the book 'The Princess Bride'
There are The Night Pirates.
There's One eyed Jake by Pat Hutchins
All the pirates in Treasure Island.

Edward Teach (Blackbeard) & most privateers !?! smile

Villains can be brave too. Real life pirates are all villains.

Goblinchild Wed 05-Mar-14 14:18:25

Bartholomew Roberts was both successful and well-liked by his crew.

They character needs to have shown courage. The child is 6. I suspect lots of pirates were just baddies and not necessary courageous. I think you just need to quote the name of book if asked who you are.
