Dd 13 reads quite a lot but the books tend to be quite similar (manga type books). She thinks steam punk is cool in terms of style so I was wondering if anyone could recomend any books in this genre (funny if possible) that may be suitable.
Cheers

The "Larklight" series by Phillip Reeve is very good "steam punk" and suitable for that age - my DD thoroughly enjoyed it and moved on to later read his "Mortal Engines" series which is also good, but perhaps a bit older. Hope this helps!

Just came on to say Mortal Engines, but have been beaten to it! They are v good, and absolutely fine for a 13 year old.

My son enjoyed the Leviathan series by Scott Westerfield

Probably not suitable, but . . . Soulless is very very funny, and I would have loved it I'm sure at 13. However it does have quite a bit of sex in it! (All very lighthearted and fun, so personally I'd be happy with my younger dd reading it if she wanted to, but it depends how you feel about such things Grin )

Cheers Books and Takver, I think she would enjoy both of those. I quite fancy them myself.

The Soulless series above mentioned is fab, and the author (Gail carriger) has also started a series for YA, set in the same world.
