My DD is 15mo and will be nearly 2 when DC2 is born. Are there any books that explain having a new baby brother or sister that also shows breastfeeding? I don't mind if it's too old for her as long as it's got pictures I can explain. I know DD is too young yet to understand what going on, so I think a book will be a nice idea.

We used Topsy and Tim and the New Baby with dd1. The mum in it breast feeds and it shows the big brother being excited, happy and sad about having a baby brother.

'The mystery of the breast' is lovely :-). It is aimed at older children though. The Usborne 'The New Baby' also shows breastfeeding and comes in a sticker book version.

The mum in the Katie Morag books is shown breast feeding in one of them.

We got 'My New Baby' and 'Waiting for Baby' by Rachel Fuller. They are board books, and one of them is full of questions and sets you up to discuss the pictures with your toddler. Also got 'I Want a Sister' by Tony Ross, a Little Princess book, because I like the series.

Have a look at this blog

She has written a fantastic four part review on loads of children's books that have images of breastfeeding in!

Hope it helps x

There's a Topsy and Tim for every situation! Our local library has lots of new baby books, it might be worth checking out yours.

I work for a charity and we sometimes buy books for breastfeeding support groups. This is the list we use:

Happy Birth Day! Robie H Harris, Walker Books ISBN 0744552648
Hi New Baby Robie H Harris, Walker Books ISBN 0744582261
Just like you did Marjorie Newman Bloomsbury 0747564264
Katie Morag and the Grand Concert Mairi Hedderwick Red Fox
Katie Morag and the Tiresome Ted Mairi Hedderwick Red Fox
Mama's milk
Mariana and the Merchild Caroline Pitcher, Jackie Morris
Sophie and the New Baby Catherine and Laurence Anholt Orchard Books 1 84362
Topsy and Tim The New Baby Jean and Gareth Adamson Ladybird Books ISBN 1904351255
We Like to Nurse Chia Martin Hohm Press ISBN 093425259
Will there be a lap for me? Dorothy Corey 0 8075 9110 6

I think last time I was buying them I struggled to get Happy Birth Day, although it is my favourite. Some of them are for older children but I can definitely recommend the Topsy and Tim one. Good luck with the new arrival x
