Has anyone's dc read her books? Dd likes history based fiction and I'm told that she's good at this.

I absolutely loved her Johnny Swanson, tradition storytelling at its very best. 1940s I think. Not read the Montmorency ones.

Think I will get her both. She's had very good reviews.

It's a very exciting time in our house. 9 yo dd1 has suddenly switched on to reading - she has been a reluctant reader but I knew that it would happen if she found something that really grabbed her. It started with Judith Kerr's When Hitler stole the pink rabbit and now she can't seem to stop.

5 yo dd is very pleased with herself that she's just read her first chapter book.

Long may it last!
