DD7 has recently come on with her reading but still slightly behind her peers. Trying to find her a book to find for enjoyment rather than just school work. Shes quite a girly girl (princesses, fairys, kittens - that sort of thing) Can anybody recommend anything?

The "magic molly" series might be good. My DD enjoys them - not sure what her reading age is but she's ORT level 9 / 10. It's about a girl who can talk to animals and is quite girly. We used to read them together - her doing a para and then me doing a para. The Anna Hibiscus series is also really lovely - about a girl growing up in Africa. The language is quite easy although again it may be better to read them together as it talks about aspects of AFrican life than may be unfamiliar to UK children.

And there's always the dreaded Rainbow Magics...

The Jewel Princess series is very similar to Rainbow Magic, but there are less of them!

You can also get Horrid Henry Early Readers, which have one story from the original HHs in them, but with lots of colour pictures, bigger text and less words per page.

There are Little Animal Ark books which are rather nice - like the main Animal Ark series, but easier to read.

The Winnie the Witch chapter books are also designed as early readers, so lots of pictures, not too much text.

Thanks for your help. In regards to ORT before half term she was on level 8 but now shes come home with what appears to be level 5? Not sure why. She doesnt appear to be struggling and has whizz through her level 5 books.
