Can I ask what your teen reads?

Not quite there yet but thinking ahead. Does your teen ds still read as much as they did when younger? What type of books/favourite authors do they have? Looking to steer my own ds back to books during the holidays.

It depends. Older boys (21 and 18 now) have always read fantasy, DS3 (14) reads a mix of stuff. So we have things like

Raymond Feist
David Eddings
Terry Goodkind
Robert Jordan
George R R Martin
J V Jones
James CLemens
Stephen Erikson
Anne MacCaffrey
Stephen Donaldson
Brandon Sanderson
Trudy Cavanagh
and a pile more for the older ones. I don't know exactly what they read now but this is what they were reading as teenagers. Also:

Garth Nix
Anthony Horowitz
Philip Reeve
Suzanne Collins
Sophie Mackenzie
Liam Hearn
William Nicholson
NM Browne
Mary Hoffmann
Catherine Fisher
John Flanagan
Melvin Burgess
Phillip Pullman
Joseph Delaney
Susan COoper
Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell
Robin JArvis
Neill Gaiman
Jeanne DUprau
Eion Colfer
Marcus Sedgewick
Kevin Crossley Holland
James Daschner
Diana Wynne Jones
Ursula Le Guin
Michelle Paver
Johnathon Stroud

Older boys read just as much now as they did when they were younger. DS3 reads much, much more now. He has a reading and writing issue and didn't really get the hang of reading at all until he was about 11, now he reads A LOT. It depends on the age of your DS but all of the authors above are fine (no real sex, bad language, graphic violence) but the second list are all what I would reckon to be teen authors.

Look at the Ramses series by Christian Jacq - he's an egyptologist so a great mix of fact and fiction and all the suspense of what it would be like to become a Pharoah. My DS is still a bit young for them but they've been highly recommended by nephews and I read and enjoyed the first one.

Having problems responding so all my previous message has disappeared. Keeping it brief and hoping this works this time.
Huge thanks for replies.
