Hi there, im hoping to become a childminder by the end of this year and im wondering how much i should charge i've noticed others in my area are charging £2.50 per hour for Full Time and more for Part Time. (£3-£3.50 per hour)
I was thinking of doing the same, but if i charge more for PT then if the parents want exra hours i would charge £2.50 for any "over time" as its extra i wouldn't always be getting.
Hi, KatieMac, I've been reading alot of threads from you, you sound very professional
I was thinking of saying if they come for more than 5 hours a day then they are Full Time.
how much do you charge per hour? and where abouts are you. i live in the midlands area.
I've been thinking alot about the various issues surrounding childminding. When im just starting out and i will have a 5yr old and a baby (my own) and already have a child booked to start in November (if i get approved) so after that i would really only want one more child max, probably FT. what do you think?
Any advice or words of wisdom would be appriciated. thanks alot.
Humm cant really afford to be without an income but then dont want to take on too much cuz i want to make sure i can provide really good care for the ones i will be looking after.
I've got the mum of the child im hoping to mind coming at the end of the week to chat about it so hopefully i will start to relax abit after that.
Sorry to ask more questions but.........
How long did it take you to get registered? do you think i ought to get the police checks and doctors checks done now, if im hoping to start minding in november? Im starting my ICP on the 11th April.
Thanks for your help i really appeciate it, im abit lost and the thought of starting my own business is abit daunting, yet exciting
Hi Kelli22 I would really advise the CRB check now as that is what held up my registration as it 'got lost in the system' there was another person with the same name (first middle and last) so it got held up and then wasn't sent to my local police station etc etc etc..
BTW what area are you in?
Im near coventry, i've got a lady from the early years centre dropping by to look at the house and give me advice on the 11th April - which im really looking forward to as then i hope to start the ball rolling. i've got all the forms i need hopefully she can advise me which ones i will need to fill in and send off now.
How long was the total time it took for you to be registered?
Thats unusual for someone to have a name like yours. i dont know any Xena's, pretty tho.
Im going to be changing my name soon (for the birth of our baby) so dont know when i should do it, but if do change it before i register, it will def get lost cause im changing it to Jones n How many Kelli Jones' are there! lol
On the other hand will i have to send off to offstead if i change my name - and all the council lists as well - oh dear, i should of thought of this sooner - eeek
Not really called Xena just made up for mums net go bored of my last signin name.
Registration- I think that it took from the begining of July to the end of October so only 4mths but I could have been registered at the beginning of Sept because all the other checks were back then.
I live in London so charge £4ph full or part time that is what all minders in local area charge.
