Childminders CLub: Keep your fingers crossed....please

This week I find out
1) whether I can have 12 children instead of 8 from planning dept
2) whether I can have a £350 grant towards my wheelchair ramp
3) whether I can have a grant for £2880 as I am increasing my before and after school numbers.

I'm so excited - but of course I could be refused all three so KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED......please

Slight hijack do you think we are employees or are we our own bosses

I know we are strictly self employed but what does that mean in practice?

KatieMac Mon 21-Feb-05 14:02:13

I'm strictly self employed.

However I have to consider repeat business and continuity (of wages) if I want to enforce that.

So this am I took a urine sample to the Drs - I could have refused (quite rightly - it's not my job) but I didn't as it would just cause bad feeling and trouble.

So as a S/E C/Mer I have to make decisions and choice to maintain max freedom and control for me, whilst 'keeping on the right side' of the parents

I think I said what I mean - it got a bit confusing there

RTKangaMummy Mon 21-Feb-05 14:08:06

It is just that on the other thread we were classsed as employees and so therefore should do as we are told

I do not see myself as an employee

I do put myself out for families and fit in with them and their changing schedules

Mindees mum works shifts which she changes at short notice and I fit in with them 99.9999% of the time.

Uwila has defended us

KatieMac Mon 21-Feb-05 20:10:23

I like Uwila - I think she'd be a 'good' mum to C/M for. She is very business minded but fair.

Wish some of my mums were
