£4 an hour is a few years old as well.

These rates appear a bit low to me. I would think an experienced childminder in London could charge anywhere from £3.50 to £7.00 per hour depending on area, the facilities in her house, if she does the school run, if she arranges alternate care when she's not available (sick or otherwise), etc.

Brum may be a bit cheaper, as most things are more expensive in London. You may want to have a look at www.childcarelink.gov.uk. Some childminders advertise their rates on there.
