saltireslytherin Wed 11-Jul-07 08:16:37

I think I will be after last night. I went to my pre registration meeting. The next course I can go on isn't until the 14th October.
So that means I won't can get registered until almost (or after) Christmas.

Katymac Wed 11-Jul-07 08:22:52

Doesn't the course have to be done within 6 months of registering

Ask NannyNick - he'll know

I'm sure your can register & do the ICP later

mumlove Wed 11-Jul-07 08:25:00

Just waiting for last mindee to turn up then off for the school and preschool runs.
grey skies again here today after yesterdays sun in the afternoon.

saltire surely something can be done, can a ofsted insepctor from your area come and have a chat with you, then you could show them everything from when you were in scotland?

Shoshable Wed 11-Jul-07 08:28:43

i have been up since 4.30, sleep not so good at the mo, but hey ho thats life.

Saltire, you can register and do the course within 6 months love, contact Ofsted and Sure start. They should issue your paperwork if you are insistant enough, a couple of girls here moving in from Wales.

saltireslytherin Wed 11-Jul-07 09:28:10

Well I ahve gone through what I was given last night

The next course, called 1st enrollment support is12th September or 16th october. The one after that, called 2nd DHC unit 1 course, is 13th 20th October, or17th and 24th November. Then 2 weeks after those dates is a multiple choice question thing?
The NCMA woman last night said that you don't get your OFSTED form until you attend the first course, and that it needs to be filled in then and then the process starts.
She kept banging on about the grant - TBHY I'm not all that bothered about a grant as I have verything I think I could need.
Not having done any actual ICP course since 2002 I'm not sure which is which

Katymac Wed 11-Jul-07 09:59:57

Download the form - I think it's on the OFSTED site CM1

PinkChick Wed 11-Jul-07 10:22:26

i wish we lived closer KatyMac, i have had to turn away two children in last two days, its so hit and miss, i could be lsoing one myself soon but cant do anything about it until i know when and for certain..hope things look up for you soon

PinkChick Wed 11-Jul-07 10:49:10

Aparently, us childminders are the ones most likely to leave children un attended in cars/acroos the road in hosues when we go shopping, then tut when we hear them cry over the monitor we have taken grocery shopping with us..not parents...childminders or nany's!

MaureenMcGonagall Wed 11-Jul-07 10:49:42

Morning all! I take it you can work out who I am! I've been drawn in by the Harry Potter mania! I am sooo quiet this week. I've only got aftr schoolers today and tomorrow and 1 all day on Friday. At least its given me some time to get this party sorted that I'm doing on Saturday. I've just put a huge fruit cake in the oven, so I'm stuck in for at least the next 3 hours!

MaureenMcGonagall Wed 11-Jul-07 10:54:13

Where's that come from? I would never, ever do that. Especially after the incident I had last year. I was posting a letter and parked right next to the post box, so I got out of the car to take the one step to the post box, having shut the door on the car and the autolock failed on my car! Baby locked inside the car and car still running! There was a shop next to the post box, so I ran in and screamed help! (as you do) and the guy procduced a coat hanger from somewhere and managed to open the door by shoving in down between the window. This all happened within about 2 minutes, but it seemed like years!

PinkChick Wed 11-Jul-07 10:58:18

on a thread about guess what i saw in supermarket..

MaureenMcGonagall Wed 11-Jul-07 11:08:25

Found it and made my feelings known!

KaySamuels Wed 11-Jul-07 11:37:19

Where do people get these ideas about cms????????

If when people asked us what we did for a living, and then asked us what it entailed, instead of saying 'oh it must be nice to stay at home' , do you think poeple would be less ignorant?

Hi by the way!!!

MaureenMcGonagall Wed 11-Jul-07 11:45:35

I think he regretted it as soon as he said it! I've just made a faux pas too! Its so easy to let your fingers type before you've thought it through!

mogs0 Wed 11-Jul-07 13:25:10

Hi everyone!

Saltire - I'm moving to Wales at the end of the year and the woman I spoke to said I only had to do 2 parts (evenings) of the DHC1 (the new name for the ICP). The multiple choice thing is a to test you have been paying attention during the course!! Although multiple choice is generally quite easy, the questions on mine were worded in such a complicated way, you really have to read q's carefully (or maybe I'm just a bit thick!!)

Different councils have different rules about whether you do courses first or register first. I moved from one London borough to another in the middle of my registration and the rules were different in each area (less than a mile apart!). I caused great confusion with the people in the new borough!

I would suggest you phone Ofsted and beg them to fast-track you!! Seems like such a great waste of time for you and for them if you have to do all the courses again.

Good luck!

Rubybees Wed 11-Jul-07 13:43:43

Afternoon ladies (off to find that thread soon . I would never do that , I don't even live my OWN children in a locked car for a second

Had ds sports day today, also watched mindie and took some pictures for mum to see. Dull and dreery today. Like pinkchick, fighting mindies off with a stick at the moment, not enough childminders for amount of demand.

Right off to have a quick cuppa before little peeps start waking tata

Rubybees Wed 11-Jul-07 13:54:17

Anyone link me to it please I am rubbish and can't find it

MaureenMcGonagall Wed 11-Jul-07 13:57:35

Its this one Ruby. Don't be too hard on him, its not nearly as bad as it sounds!

mumlove Wed 11-Jul-07 14:00:55

Just got around to having my lunch and a coffee and a quick check on here.

Sun is shinning, but there is a strong wind. Will enjoy the walk to school today and stop to look at the trains etc.

Rubybees Wed 11-Jul-07 14:03:32

oh well thanks for the link lol

MaureenMcGonagall Wed 11-Jul-07 14:07:38

I'm bored!!! I've done all my jobs and the fruit cakes out of the oven. Still only half hour or so, then its off to get the schoolies. Funny old weather here. Kinda warm, kinda not!

PinkChick Wed 11-Jul-07 15:00:13

no, ive 'heard' him beofre and he seems nice, but that flippant comment had to be questioned!

mumlove Wed 11-Jul-07 16:21:19

Well I'm happy, Ofsted has agreed to my variation having a new mindee on Wednesdays after my holiday, making 4 under 5's.
1 will be at school mornings only until half term and my other 2 mindees are starting preschool that morning. So will have 2 1/2 hours with a just 1 yr old.
