Right, I want to organise some potential nanny meet ups with young children in Richmond/Kingston/Twickenham. Anyone interested?

As most of you probably remember, we are getting a new nanny in a week. She arrives on the 4th July aand officially starts work on the 9th (Monday). She is Canadian/British. She is currently on a whirlwind tour of Italy and Greece with her Dad. So, clearly she is haveing a terrible summer and I'm sure can't wait to spend the day with my hellions. She will be looking after DD (4) and DS (2). Both of my kids are very cute and amazingly well behaved... yeah okay, they are cute anyway.

Anyone interested???

Jura, I expect to see your name on this thread pronto.

Heh hemm....

maybe this could be posted on the meet other nannies section on NJ!

I thought of that, but it's probably her place to do that, not mine. And I think our leaving nanny has told her about the site so she will probably find it in her time.

I agree.... normally us nannies find each other to meet up with... rather than our bosses finding friends for us

i know, but since she is coming from out of the country and has never lived here before, I just thought it would be nice to gather some potential contats and say this one likes swimming and this one goes to the toddler group and I can introduce you if you want... and so on...

I have signed the 4 year up for a swim camp one day a week and I'm giving her a membership to the Gym (where the kids also will have a membership) so I guess that should get her started.

But it is still hard to begin a new nanny job just in time for the summer break when most of the activities also go on break.

Anyway, just trying to help her get out and about...

sounds like you are a lovely boss

I agree summer holidays can drag at the best of times.... especially when you dont know anyone and all the activities that make the week fly by stop!

Not in your area sorry, but i have loads of nanny friends down here and we all have the more the merrier attitude to welcoming new nannies!
(we will all be meting up LOADS over the summer to keep us sane! lol)

My new AP is starting in September and is looking to meet up with others. I'll put them in touch with each other and maybe they could go exploring together at weekends.

September? I haven't got the kind of patience and you know it! She will be here one week from today!

She is 21. She is from Canada, but also has British citizenship (from her dad's side I think?). She has complete 3 years of a History degree in Canada and is look for a break because she is tired of studying. She is quite dedicated to her faith, and is soon to have a membership to Amida in HAmpton/Twicker (courtesy of her lovely employer [wink}).

I hope she doesn't mind me typing her life story on here...

No I can't say patience is a virtue of yours ele But my AP is 19 so close in age!

eleusis, you sound like a nice boss arranging a nanny group for her.

I remember my first job being very lonely and taking ages to find other nannies in the area.

couldnt your nanny that is leaving hook her up with her nnay group before she leaves? Or ask her nany friends to meet up ith her/show her around? This is what our group usually does when a nanny leaves. Its nice to feel welcomed. Im happy to say, most of the replacemnts for my friends jobs have always been nice.

There is however a new very strange nutter nanny on the block, who we have all tried really hard to welcome, but shes a little scary!
