Setting up a business

Hi, Just hoping for some advice.

I am looking at starting a childminding business, but really have no idea where to begin.

I’m currently a nanny and have been for almost three years for a family with five children.

I’m just interested in hearing how others started out and what I would need to do and advertising etc.

Thank you!

If you contact your local authority about registering, they will be able to help. Ours runs a course for new childminders, which covers everything from registration and inspections, training, to accounts, to first aid and safeguarding etc.

I know several childminders who've given up minding to become nannies, so weigh up all the pros and cons.

Same as other commenter really - contact your LA and they should guide you. Also are there any childminder groups in your area that you could go to? I found speaking face to face with cm’s and asking them about their experiences was much better.
I would also have a little read online as there are some great websites 😊
